
In a heartening celebration of excellence and community spirit, the Tripura State Unit of the World Meetei Council (WMC) hosted its 2nd Felicitation Ceremony on Saturday at Sukanta Academy Hall. The event, titled “Shining Stars”, highlighted the remarkable achievements of young Meitei students and honored individuals who have made outstanding contributions to society.
A total of 35 students were recognized for their academic excellence—21 from Class X (across CBSE, ICSE, and TBSE boards) and 14 from Class XII (CBSE and TBSE). Their performance reflected not only personal dedication but also the collective aspirations of the Meitei community in Tripura.
In addition to the student awards, three distinguished personalities were felicitated for their invaluable service and achievements in their respective fields:

The ceremony was presided over by Haokhom Bankim Singha, President of WMC Tripura State Unit, who emphasized the role of community recognition in fostering a culture of educational excellence and preserving cultural identity.
Dr. Takhellambam Arindam Datta, Principal of Tripura Medical College, graced the event as Chief Guest. In his keynote address, he praised the students’ resilience and urged them to maintain their dedication as they pursue future academic and professional goals.
The program was further enriched by the presence of social activist Mayengbam Nilamani Sinha and WMC Vice-Chairman Chingsubam Nabakumar Singh, who attended as Guests of Honour, lending their support and encouragement to the awardees.
