Unpacking black box data: In the first briefing following the Air India crash, the aviation minister

In his first briefing following Thursday’s disaster of the Air India flight in Ahmedabad, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu stated that numerous agencies and high-level panels are conducting a thorough investigation into the tragedy and that the black box data from the doomed aircraft is being decoded. It is anticipated that the black box data will reveal important details on the crash’s cause.

“The situation is being treated with the highest severity by the Ministry.  Immediately after, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) was called into action. The DG AAIB hurried to the scene right away to assess the situation.” The minister reported that the black box was recovered from the crash scene yesterday at approximately 5:00 p.m. by the technical investigative team working through the AAIB.

He went on to say, “The AAIB team is confident that this black box decoding will provide a detailed understanding of what would have truly occurred during the disaster or in the seconds leading up to the crash.  After the AAIB completes its thorough investigation, we are likewise anxiously awaiting the findings or report.”
The minister emphasised safety procedures and post-crash actions, stating that India has a strong aviation safety framework and stringent safety requirements.

Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha confirmed that the crashed Air India flight had completed its Paris-Delhi-Ahmedabad journey without incident. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed into a medical hostel and canteen complex in Meghaninagar, killing 270 people, shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
