The Ujjayanta Palace’s front side will be declared a “Weekend Tourist Hub” by the Tripura government to boost the tourist sector.
Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury informed the cabinet decision in a press conference.
As per the decision of the government, every Saturday and Sunday from 4 PM to 9 PM, the road stretching from Lakshmi Narayan Bari Temple to Rabindra Bhawan Chowhumini and from the front side of the Ujjayanta Palace to Jackson gate will be declared as a No-Entry Zone.
The Ujjayanta Palace’s front side will be improved to make it more appealing to tourists by the tourism office.
There are also plans to build dhabas, food stands, and picture spots in front of the Palace and will have boating amenities on Ujjayanta Palace Lake. For the amusement of the visitors on these two days, cultural programs will also be planned, and a permanent stage will be built in front of Ujjayanta Palace.
The government will benefit financially from this initiative of the tourism department, and unemployed youth and artists will have a new source of income.
