With polls in the state scheduled for Thursday, the loud Panchayat Election campaign came to an end on Tuesday night. Since the incumbent BJP has already won 70% of the seats without opposition, elections will be held in 30% of the state’s seats.
The political parties took the election seriously and launched a fierce campaign even though it will only affect 30% of the seats. The campaign was headed by BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharjee, while the campaigns of MLA Sudip Barman, TPCC President Asish Saha, and CPI(M) State Secretary Jiten Choudhury led their respective parties.
Elaborate security plans have been put in place in the interim to guarantee a calm election tomorrow. According to official sources, more than ten thousand security guards have been sent in to guarantee a calm election.
