Agartala, August 21 — Several candidates from Tripura appearing for the SSC GD Constable recruitment physical test in Mizoram have alleged harassment, extortion, and inadequate facilities, calling for urgent intervention by state authorities.
The physical test, which began on August 20, has traditionally been conducted within Tripura. However, this year the centres were shifted to Mizoram, causing major difficulties for aspirants.
Candidates claimed they were forced to pay ₹350 at border check-posts despite producing valid admit cards. “Officials said we couldn’t cross without paying. I waited the whole night, from 9 PM to 10 AM, before being allowed to proceed. Even then, vehicle fares were doubled from ₹600 to over ₹1,200,” said aspirant Rahul Debbarma.
Upon reaching Aizawl, candidates reported unsafe conditions at the test venue. The running track allegedly had steep uphill and downhill stretches with loose pebbles, leading to multiple injuries. Out of 100 participants, only 14–15 were able to qualify.
Candidates highlighted that in other states, test tracks are better maintained, giving local aspirants a clear advantage. They have appealed to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy, and Tipra Motha chairman Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma to take immediate action.
The aspirants demanded that future physical tests be conducted within Tripura and that the state government raise the issue with the Mizoram authorities to ensure fairness and safety.
