In a landmark move toward judicial transparency, the Tripura High Court is set to live stream the final hearing of the high-profile 10,323 teachers termination case on August 8. The hearing will be accessible via the official website of the Tripura High Court.
The case pertains to the termination of thousands of graduate, undergraduate, and postgraduate teachers in 2017 and 2020 — allegedly without any formal termination notice. According to a press statement by Shantanu Bhattacharya, President of the United Forum of Teachers, the hearing will be conducted by the Single Bench of Hon’ble Justice Subhyasachi Datta Purkayastha.
The terminated educators claim that they were dismissed in violation of due process and constitutional rights, without being served proper termination letters. Representing the teachers will be veteran legal counsel Amrit Lal Saha, while Advocate General Shaktimoy Chakraborty is expected to argue on behalf of the state government.
The decision to live stream the proceedings is being viewed as a step toward enhancing public trust and ensuring transparency in cases of significant social impact. Thousands of affected teachers and their families across the state are eagerly awaiting the outcome, with many seeing it as a critical moment for justice in public employment.
