STATE: The Food Department has decided to provide mustard oil in the Tripura on the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja. Additionally, steps are being initiated to transform the state’s ration shops into model ration shops. In a press conference, Minister Sushant Chowdhury informed about this decision of the Food Department. Chief Minister Manik Saha will launch the initiative on Tuesday.
In the press conference, the Food Minister said that the State Government will provide Mustard Oil through the ration shop for the first time. One liter of mustard oil, per ration card will be distributed to the state’s 9 lakh 70 thousand ration card holders. Three brands of mustard oil, Engine, Emami, and Langtarai will be offered to consumers.
The mustard oil tender was fixed at Rs 128/liter. However, the state government has decided to give a one-time subsidy of Rs 15 more on this price. Under the subsidy, consumers can purchase mustard oil from ration shops at the price of Rs 113/ liter.
Consumers will receive this mustard oil in a special “Canvas Bag” from the Food Department before Durga Puja.
In addition to mustard oil, the canvas bag will also include 500 gm of wheat, 500 gm of suji, 1 kg of suji, 1 kg of sugar, 1 kg of flour, and 1 kg of lentils for consumers. On the other hand, consumers will receive this canvas bag at no cost.
