STATE : Tripura produces the delectable Queen Pineapple, which is currently exported to Dubai, England, Germany, Bangladesh, and other states, as well as to states like Assam, Karnataka, West Bengal, Odisha, and Rajasthan.
During Tuesday’s Legislative Assembly question and answer session, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ratan lal Nath provided this information in a written response to questions from LoP Animesh Debbarma, MLA Jitendra Chowdhury, and MLA Nirmal Biswas.
According to the Agriculture Minister, who provided data on pineapple cultivation and production over the previous three fiscal years, the state produced 1 lakh 44 thousand 605 metric tons of pineapples in the fiscal year 2020–21, 1 lakh 67 thousand 743 MT in the fiscal year 2021–22, and 1 lakh 70 thousand 988 MT (approximately) in the fiscal year 2022–23.
The Agriculture Minister also said that a total of 6,528 metric tons of pineapples were exported to other states and abroad in the last 3 fiscal years through various agencies.
In addition, the minister said that pineapples worth Rs 9 crore 79 lakh 70 thousand have been exported to other states of the country and abroad.
