The Election Commission of India has decided on a complete ban on opinion and exit polls regarding the upcoming Assembly Election in Tripura.
According to Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte, No exit and opinion polls will be conducted from February 16 at 7:00 AM to February 27 at 7:00 PM. This decision came up after discussions and meetings with the Editors of media and correspondents.
CEO Gitte also stated that on February 15 and 16, political parties can advertise their campaigns only in print media. In this case, according to the type of campaign, the political parties have to take the certificate from the State and District level Media Certification & Monitoring Committee (MCMC) beforehand.
On the other hand, after February 14, 4 PM, any political event will not be broadcasted or rebroadcasted, etc., on electronic media, radio, cable networks, websites, and social media. But constructive discussions can be held regarding Elections.
Vehicles are being inspected throughout the day at all the checkpoints that have been set up for the Election. For every naka point, three teams are deployed.
