Ahead of the counting of votes in Tripura, the Election Commission will organize a peace meeting named ‘Amra shokole ahingshar pokkhe, amra shantir pokkhe’ at every polling station in the state on February 27 & 28 next.

This peace meeting will be organized to ensure the safety of all citizens, subjects, property, and institutions of the state in a harmonious atmosphere after the announcement of the results of the Tripura Legislative Assembly on coming March 2. Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte gave this information during a Press Conference this evening.

CEO Gitte stated that Election Commission has appointed a counting observer for each of the 60 Assembly Constituencies to ensure the counting of votes in a free and fair manner.

He also said in the press conference that the assembly election 2023 in the state was conducted in a peaceful mood and with a festive atmosphere. Voting is a constitutional right of every citizen. After the elections, the overall atmosphere in the state is peaceful except for some sporadic incidents. No unpleasant incident has occurred anywhere in the state in the last 5 days.

He added that the state is rich in glorious history, culture, and natural beauty. Here people of all religions live with a sense of brotherhood. The state has a unique reputation all over the country. Regardless of the outcome of the elections, every person should be aware to keep this glorious tradition of the state intact.

The Chief Election Officer further said that all liquor shops will be closed on the day of the counting of votes on March 2. He also appealed to all to maintain peace and harmony across the state.
