NATIONAL/STATE: President Droupadi Murmu on Friday greeted the entire global community, especially the citizens of India, on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga and said that yoga is a way to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. President Murmu also performed yoga on the occasion of the 10th International Day of Yoga today.

“Greetings to the entire global community, especially the fellow citizens of India, on International Yoga Day! Yoga is India’s unique gift to humanity. Given rising lifestyle-related problems, yoga has become far more important today. Yoga is a way to achieve physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Let us resolve to adopt yoga as an integral part of our day-to-day living,” the President posted on Χ.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar, where he led the 10th International Day of Yoga celebrations at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Complex (SKICC) on Friday. This is Modi’s first visit to the Valley after becoming prime minister for the third consecutive term. This year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Self and Society’, emphasizes yoga’s vital role in fostering individual well-being and societal harmony.

Thousands of people from various walks of life joined the Prime Minister on the banks of Dal Lake, Srinagar, to mark this special occasion. On the occasion, PM Modi addressed the gathering and participated in the Common Yoga Protocol session, highlighting yoga’s significance in nurturing physical, mental, and spiritual growth. The event in Srinagar is expected to boost grassroots participation and promote yoga in rural areas.

On the other hand, Tripura also joined on this occasion. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha participated in and performed yoga on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga at the Indoor Exhibition Centre of the International Fair Ground, Hapania, Agartala. Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Pal, Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, Indian Gymnast Arjuna Awardee Dipa Karmakar, and many other dignitaries participated in the Yoga Day celebration.
