STATE : Transport Minister Sushant Chowdhury emphasized the importance of providing proper respect, love, and service to both domestic and foreign air passengers to enhance the state’s honor. He highlighted that the good behavior of the drivers associated with airport transport services plays a significant role in enhancing the state’s reputation and allowing air passengers to experience the customs and culture of the state. These remarks were made during the inauguration of the prepaid auto and taxi counter at the terminal building premises of MBB Airport in Agartala.
In addition to the inauguration of the prepaid auto-taxi counter, the Transport Minister also launched the distribution of new uniforms among prepaid auto and taxi drivers. A total of 311 prepaid auto drivers and 55 prepaid taxi drivers were provided with new uniforms by the Transport Department.
During the inauguration, the Transport Minister mentioned that MBB Airport serves as one of the entry points to Tripura and has been constructed at 438 crores. With approximately 4 thousand passengers using the airport daily, MBB Airport ranks first among the best airports in the North Eastern region and is among the smallest airports in the country.
The Minister also revealed plans to introduce the services of Ola and Uber at the airport in the near future. He also noted that uniforms were provided to prepaid auto drivers of MBB airport last year and reiterated the commitment to continue providing them annually before Durga Puja.
