NORTHEAST: Eight coaches of the Agartala-Lokmanya Tilak Express, which derailed at Dibalong station in Assam’s Lumding-Badarpur Hill section on Thursday afternoon, have been restored, according to a press release from the North East Frontier Railway (NFR).
The press release stated that train services in the Lumding Bardarpur Hill section were affected due to the derailment of train no. 12520 (Agartala – Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express) on 17th October 2024, have been restored. The SMVT Bengaluru – Agartala Express became the first train to pass through the accident-affected section of Dibalong station at 09:48 hours.
Earlier, it was reported that the Agartala – Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express derailed at Dibalong station under the Lumding division in the Lumding – Bardarpur Hill section at about 15:55 hrs. Few coaches and the engine of the train got derailed, but no casualties or major injuries were reported.
An Accident Relief Train & Accident Relief Medical Train has already left for the site from Lumding along with senior officials of the division to supervise the rescue and restoration works. Running of trains over the Lumding-Badarpur single-line section has been suspended.
