STATE: Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday chaired an important meeting with the officials of the Archeological Survey of India.
In the meeting, the Tourism Minister said that There is a huge potential to enrich the economy of the state through the development of the tourism industry. To exploit this potential, the government has given special importance to the infrastructural development of tourist centers in the state as well as providing various services to the tourists.
According to the Tourism Minister, both domestic and international visitors are flocking to the state’s tourist hotspots at a rising rate each year.
He advised the officials of the Archaeological Survey of India to be more responsible in providing facilities to the tourists visiting the tourist centers.
In addition to this, the Director of Tourism stated in the meeting that steps had already been made by the Department of Tourism to establish separate Circle Offices of the Archaeological Survey of India in the State.
Various plans have been taken to beautify the tourist centers of the state, according to Director Tapan Kumar Das.
The Aizawl Circle, Archaeological Survey of India, looks after eight (8) historical structures in Tripura. He noted that these include Unakoti, the Gunabati Temple in the Gomati District, Chaturdarsh Devta Temple, Bhubaneswari Temple, the Shyamsundar Ashramtila at Jolaibari, the Pujakhola at West Pilak, the Thakurani Tilla at West Pilak, and the ancient ruins at Boxanagar.
The Archaeological Survey of India authorities were asked to start a cafeteria at Unakoti by the tourism minister during the meeting. The meeting also covered the Swadesh Darshan initiative.
