NATIONAL: The 2024 Lok Sabha elections saw the emergence of a new generation of leaders, with three MPs aged just 25. Critics question the capability of such young politicians, but their victories highlight a growing demand for fresh perspectives and innovative approaches in Indian politics.

Kanhaiya Singh, representing the Indian National Congress, won from the Arrah constituency in Bihar. His active involvement in student politics and a degree from Delhi University made him a relatable figure for young voters. Singh’s campaign focused on employment and educational reforms, resonating strongly with the electorate.

Sambhavi Choudhary of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) clinched victory in Samastipur, Bihar. At 25, she became the youngest Dalit woman to win a Lok Sabha seat. With a master’s degree from the Delhi School of Economics and a directorial role at Gyan Niketan School, Choudhary’s background in education and sociology provided a strong foundation for her campaign, which emphasized social justice and educational access.

Heena Sharma, running as an independent candidate, also secured her place in the Lok Sabha. Her grassroots campaign and focus on local issues like healthcare and infrastructure development won her significant support. Sharma’s victory is a testament to the power of independent voices in a predominantly party-driven political landscape.

These young MPs symbolize a shift towards a more dynamic and inclusive political environment in India, reflecting the aspirations of a younger, more progressive electorate.
