Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone, inaugurated multiple projects of worth over Rs.4350 crores and virtually dedicated them to the State from Swami Vivekananda Stadium in Agartala.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the State Institute of Hotel Management at Anandnagar alongside Agartala Government Dental College and connectivity projects for widening the Agartala bypass (Khayerpur – Amtali) NH-08. He laid the foundation stone for 32 roads of more than 230 kilometers in length under PMGSY III and improvement projects of 112 roads covering a distance of over 540 kilometers. PM Narendra Modi also launched the Griha Pravesh programme for beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban and Rural.
Addressing the Public gathering, the Prime Minister stated that “Tripura is getting its first dental college today, and the youth of Tripura will now have the opportunity to become doctors without having to leave the state”.
The Prime Minister, on the other hand, remarked that “The Northeast region via Tripura is becoming a gateway for international trade”, and he also informed about the new avenues that will open up with the Agartala-Akhaura railway line and the India-Thailand-Myanmar highway infrastructure.
He further added that connectivity has got a boost with the construction of the international terminal at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala.
Meanwhile, during his short visit to the state, PM Modi arrived later than expected since he was attending the meeting of the North Eastern Council in Meghalaya earlier prior to his visit to Tripura. Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya, Chief Minister Manik Saha, MP Biplab Kumar Deb along-with other dignitaries were present and received him at the Airport.
