STATE: The supply and stock of essential commodities, including petrol and diesel, are satisfactory in the state. Minister of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department Sushanta Chowdhury said this in a press conference at the secretariat’s press conference hall today.
In a press conference, he said that due to heavy rains in the Jatinga-Lampur area of the Lumding-Badarpur section of the Northeast Frontier Railway on April 26, there was a disruption in the importation of various daily necessities, including petrol, by rail in the state. In this situation, a rationing system was temporarily introduced for the sale of petrol and diesel in the state on May 1.
At that time, with the help of IOCL, various essential products, including petrol, diesel, and foodstuffs, were also imported by road in the state.
In the press conference, the food minister said that the situation has returned to normal after the repair of railway lines in the troubled areas of the railways. For this reason, the restrictions imposed by the state government on the sale of gasoline and diesel in the state have been withdrawn.
At present, the state has an adequate stock of gasoline and diesel. He said that currently, the average daily demand for petrol and diesel in the state is 275 kiloliters and 365 kiloliters, respectively. At present, IOCL has a total stock of 1,700 kiloliters of petrol and 2,726 kiloliters of diesel at various petrol pumps in the state, including its depot at Dharmanagar.
