85 percent of work on the Indian part and 73 percent of work on the Bangladesh part of the Agartala-Akhaura Rail link project have already been completed stated by Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury while doing the Press Conference in Secretariat on Friday afternoon.

Minister Chowdhary recently visited New Delhi and met with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and had a detailed discussion regarding the launch of the Agartala-Akhaura Rail Link.

In the Press Conference, Sushanta Chowdhury said that the railway connectivity with Bangladesh is likely to be operational by September. Top priority has been given to the speedy completion of the much-awaited Agartala-Akhaura rail link project.

He also requested the Union Railway Minister to consider all these issues in the discussion. The Union Minister of Railways has requested DoNER Minister to allocate an additional Rs 150 crore for the speedy completion of the Agartala-Akhaura rail link. As the Agartala-Akhaura Rail Link Project is under the responsibility of the DoNER Ministry. DoNER Ministry will sanction this amount very soon: Minister Chowdhury informed.
