Tripura’s first Dental College will be commenced with the hand of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 18 from Swami Vivekananda Ground. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has approved the setting up of a Dental College in the State for the academic session of 2023-24. 

On December 12 and 13, a delegation from the Dental Council of India visited the state and reported their findings to the Executive Council. Based on this report, the Union Health Ministry has approved it. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said the team was satisfied with the basic infrastructure of the college.
 
CM Saha said that the admission process will be completed in this college with 50 seats based on the NEET result and 15 % of the total seats will be filled centrally. Apart from this, 7 to 8 seats will be allotted for all the states of the North Eastern region which do not have Dental Colleges. The academic session will start in September next year. 
 
The college is being started in the G+7 building of IGM Hospital and so are the hostel facilities for the students. 
 
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha held a press conference on Thursday night along Chief Secretary and Health Secretary and announced the approval of Dental College by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
