President of India, Droupadi Murmu presented Three Padma Vibhushan, Four Padma Bhushan, and Forty- Seven Padma Shri Awards for the year 2023 at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-I held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of Vice President of India, Prime Minister, Union Minister for Home Affairs and other dignitaries.
As announced earlier, from Tripura two personalities have been conferred with Prestigious Padma Shri Awards for the Year 2023.
Bikram Bahadur Jamatia received Padma Shri Award from President Droupadi Murmu for Social Work. He is also the founder and President of “The Janajati Faith & Culture Protection Forum” and known for his works for the development of the tribal communities of NorthEast India.
On the other hand, the Former Cabinet Minister of Tripura Late Narendra Chandra Debbarma has been conferred with Padma Shri Award (Posthumous) for his contribution to the field of Public Affairs. His son Subrata Debbarma collected the Award from President Murmu.
Padma Awards are the highest civilian awards in the country, and they are distributed in three categories, including Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.
These awards are given to people for their excellent work in various fields of activities including social work, art, science and engineering, public affairs, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, and others.
