STATE : Tripura’s poet Sorokkhaibam Gambhini bagged the Sahitya Akademi Award 2023 for her poetry book “Yachangba Nang Hallo” in the Manipuri language.

Born in 1971, poet Sorokkhaibam Gambhini is a native of Kamalpur. She is a post-graduate in Sanskrit and is currently employed at Tripura University.

In a congratulatory message, the Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, said that this award is a matter of pride for the people of Tripura. Moreover, this award has glorified the state in the field of literature at the national level.

The award, comprising Rs 1 lakh in cash and a citation, will be presented in an event to be held in Delhi on March 12, 2024, said a statement from the Akademi.

A total of 24 writers from different languages have been selected for this year’s award.
