On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that he notified Pakistan of the 2019 Balakot airstrikes before their global announcement.
He stated that “Modi doesn’t believe in attacking from the back and fights openly face to face” during a poll rally in Bagalkot, Karnataka.
The prime minister stated, “I had asked the armed forces to notify the media, but I had already promised to call Pakistan to alert them about the nighttime attacks and the damage they had inflicted, but Pakistanis did not pick up the phone. I therefore requested that the soldiers wait, and after telling them, we then made the world aware of the nighttime airstrikes.”
He also declared, “This is Naya Bharat (New India),” a warning to those who attempt to murder innocent citizens of the nation. The phrase “will kill inside one’s (enemy) territory” is used.
He added that many first believed India’s airstrikes in Pakistan were carried out in Bagalkot, the district in Karnataka with a similar name.
“We then held a press conference and disclosed information about it and the destruction caused to the enemies, after the strikes,” he told the audience.
In retaliation for the terror assault in Pulwama, India launched an air strike on a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist training center in Balakot on February 26, 2019.
