STATE : Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Bangladesh, H.E. Sheikh Hasina, will jointly inaugurate the much-awaited Akhaura – Agartala Cross-Border Rail Link on November 1 at around 11 AM via video conferencing, the PMO confirmed.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will join in the inauguration of this highly anticipated project virtually.

The Akhaura-Agartala Cross-Border Rail Link project has been executed under the Government of India grant assistance of INR 392.52 crore extended to Bangladesh. The length of the rail link is 12.24 km, with a 6.78 km Dual Gauge rail line in Bangladesh and 5.46 km in Tripura.

Previously, a trial run was conducted effectively on October 30 when a freight train from Bangladesh Railway, consisting of four wagons, arrived at the Nishchintapur Railway Station in Tripura for the first time.

Apart from this, both Prime Ministers will inaugurate the Khulna-Mongla Port Rail Line Project and the Maitree Super Thermal Power Project under the Indian Concessional Financing Scheme loan.
