In an effort to make pilgrim’s travel during the Kharchi Puja and Fair more convenient, two pairs of special Demu trains have been running since June 26 with the initiative of Northeast Frontier Railway.

Among those, a pair of Demu trains are moving between Agartala-Dharmanagar-Agartala. Another pair of Demu trains are moving between Agartala-Sabroom-Agartala. These special Demu trains will be available till July 3.

On June 21, the Additional Secretary of the Transport Department, Government of Tripura, Subrata Choudhury, wrote a letter to the authority of Northeast Frontier Railway asking for the commencement of special trains for the travel convenience of the pilgrims for Kharchi. Based on this, the mentioned trains have started.

The special trains will leave from Agartala for Dharmanagar at 5 am and reach Dharmanagar at 9:30 am. On the other hand, the special Demu train will leave from Dharmanagar for Agartala at 10:35 am and will reach Agartala at 2 pm. The special train from Agartala to Sabroom will leave at 2:15 pm and will reach Sabroom at 4:35 pm. The train will leave Sabroom at 5 pm and will reach Agartala at 9:35 pm. It is being urged on behalf of the state government to make use of the opportunity.
