STATE :The Ministry of Culture has approved the set up of Thematic Galleries & Planetarium in Agartala under the Scheme for Promotion of Culture of Science (SPoCS) as a joint initiative of the Government of India and the Government of Tripura.
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik, who is also an MP from West Tripura constituency, shared this information on X (formerly Twitter).
Union Minister of Culture, Tourism, and DoNER G. Kishan Reddy wrote the approval letter to MoS Pratima Bhoumik.
In the letter to MoS Bhowmik, “I am further pleased to inform that under this Scheme, development of Thematic Galleries and Planetarium has been approved to be set up in the State of Tripura and in your constituency i.e., Agartala at a total cost of Rs.40 Crore (Central and State Govt. share being Rs. 36 Cr. and Rs. 4 Cr. respectively.”
The letter also said, “You may be glad to know that the Ministry of Culture, Government of India has a unique scheme called ‘Scheme for Promotion of Culture of Science (SPOCS)’ under which based on the requests from different State Governments/UTs, Science Cities/Centres/Digital Planetarium & Innovation Hubs in Science Centres, etc. are set up with joint funding of Government of India and States/UT Govt.”
