POLITICS : Tripura CPIM-Left Front announced their candidate list on Wednesday for the forthcoming Assembly Election on February 16 next. The left front will be contesting in 43 assembly constituencies, one each seat for CPI, RSP, Forward Block, and one seat for an independent candidate in the 7-Ramnagar constituency assembly; among them, 24 are new candidates will be contesting for the first time, while 2 are female candidates.
 
On the other hand, their seat-sharing partner, Tripura Congress will be contesting for 13 Assembly Constituencies. However, Congress is yet to announce their candidate’s name.
 
Notably, some sitting MLAs have been relieved this time from the forthcoming Assembly Election. Their names are majorly omitted, including Four-time Chief Minister and Current Leader of the Opposition Manik Sarkar, Bhanulal Saha, Badal Chowdhury, Tapan Chakraborty, Sahid Choudhury, Narayan Chowdhury, etc.
 
According to CPIM, Manik Sarkar voluntarily expressed his desire not to run as a candidate this time; but rather to concentrate more on fortifying the Party Organization.
