The State Government has decided to give each member of the departed family Rs 4 lakhs in financial assistance.

Moreover, financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand will be given to those injured more than 60 percent and Rs 74 thousand to those injured 40 to 60 percent. It was announced by the Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, during the Press Conference in Kumarghat.

The government also made the appropriate arrangements for free hospital treatment for the injured. Local Administration Officials and senior officials of the state administration have been directed to take all necessary measures in this regard.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha rushed to Kumarghat from Agartala by train this evening after receiving the news of the tragic accident during the ISKCON-organized Ulto Rath at Kumarghat. On reaching Kumarghat, the Chief Minister first visited the accident site near Gitanjali Auditorium at Kumarghat.

After that, the Chief Minister visited Kumarghat Sub-Divisional Hospital and Primary Health Center in Fatikroy to visit the injured and enquired about their physical condition.

It is to be noted that like other years, this year also, Ulto Rath Yatra was organized today at Kumarghat of Unakoti District by the initiative of ISKCON temple. Innumerable devotees gathered in this Ulto Rath Yatra.

According to preliminary information, 7 people including 2 children, have been killed and 16 injured in this accident. The injured are undergoing treatment at Kumarghat, Fatikroy, Kailashahar, and Agartala hospitals.
