Karnataka Minister MB Patil has underscored the necessity for a second international airport in Bengaluru to accommodate at least 100 million passengers annually. During a recent infrastructure summit, Patil highlighted the urgent need for an expansive new airport to keep pace with the city’s rapidly growing air traffic demands.
According to Minister Patil, the proposed airport would require approximately 4,500 to 5,000 acres of land. The large-scale project aims to alleviate congestion at the existing Kempegowda International Airport, experiencing record passenger growth. The new airport is envisioned to support Bengaluru’s status as a major tech and business hub, ensuring seamless connectivity for domestic and international travelers.
The proposal for a second international airport will undergo thorough planning and consultation, addressing various logistical and environmental considerations. If approved, the project would mark a significant milestone in Karnataka’s infrastructure development, further enhancing the region’s economic potential and global connectivity.
