
New Delhi: In a delightful display of cultural exchange, the Ambassador of Japan to India, Ono Keiichi, recently hosted Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari at his residence in the capital. The meeting combined diplomacy with tradition, leaving netizens charmed.
Dressed in traditional attire, Ambassador Keiichi received the Deputy CM in a tatami-matted room decorated with a calligraphy scroll, reflecting the essence of Japanese hospitality. As part of the welcome, he prepared and served freshly whisked matcha tea, in accordance with the Japanese philosophy of Chado – the Way of Tea.
Sharing the moment on social media, the envoy wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Welcomed H.E. @KumariDiya, Deputy CM of Rajasthan, at my residence and served her freshly whisked #matcha, in the spirit of Chado – the Way of Tea. We shared a thoughtful conversation on boosting tourism between Japan and Rajasthan. May our cultural bridges grow ever stronger.”
Deputy CM Diya Kumari also expressed her gratitude in a post, calling the welcome a memorable experience. She noted that she would be visiting Japan soon for the JATA Tourism Expo, where further discussions on tourism collaboration are expected.
“Cultural exchanges like these highlight the beauty of shared traditions and the strength of building bridges between nations,” she wrote, underlining the importance of such diplomatic interactions in strengthening ties between Rajasthan and Japan.
