India is on the brink of a significant transformation in long-distance rail travel with the highly anticipated launch of its first Vande Bharat sleeper trains. These innovative trains, manufactured by BEML Ltd in Bangalore, are set to offer commuters unparalleled mobility and a host of modern comforts while adhering to global standards.

The Vande Bharat sleeper trains boast a body constructed from austenitic stainless steel, which ensures enhanced safety through crash-worthy elements in the crash buffers and couplers. These trains meet stringent safety standards, including rigorous fire safety requirements.

The interiors of the Vande Bharat sleeper trains are meticulously crafted to balance visual appeal with practicality. This thoughtful design approach promises to enhance the overall travel experience for passengers.

The prototype of the Vande Bharat sleeper train includes 16 coaches: 11 AC 3-tier, 4 AC 2-tier, and 1 AC first-class coach, collectively accommodating 823 passengers.

The Vande Bharat sleeper trains aim to significantly reduce travel time between major cities as it is designed to reach speeds of up to 200 km/h. This speed enhancement offers a premium alternative to the Rajdhani Express, promising faster and more efficient travel.

While the official routes for the Vande Bharat sleeper trains are yet to be confirmed, reports suggest potential connections between major cities such as Delhi and Mumbai, as well as Delhi and Howrah. Trial runs for these state-of-the-art trains are scheduled to commence on August 15.
