
Agartala — The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre Agartala, has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across Tripura between August 21 and 25, 2025, with southern districts expected to witness the most intense downpour.
According to the IMD bulletin, South Tripura district is likely to receive 7–20 cm of rainfall at one or two locations on August 21, 22, and 23, while other districts may experience heavy rain of 7–11 cm during this period.
On August 24 and 25, the forecast indicates very heavy rain (7–20 cm) at isolated places in South Tripura, Gomati, and Sepahijala districts, with the remaining districts likely to record 7–11 cm of rain.
The IMD has cautioned that the intensity of rainfall could lead to localised flooding, waterlogging, and disruption of daily activities, particularly in low-lying and vulnerable areas. Residents have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
