STATE : Government employees will get an additional 5 % Dearness Allowance (DA) from next November. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday. In a press conference at the Secretariat, Food and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced this decision of the State Government.
In a press conference, he said that from November 1, 2024, all state government employees, pensioners and DRW workers will get the benefit of this gratuity. As a result, the state government’s exchequer will spend about Rs. 500 crore annually. He said that a meeting of the state cabinet was held in the secretariat under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister where it was decided to give DA at the rate of 5 % to the employees. As a result, the state government employees will get gratuity at the rate of 30 per cent at present.
Additionally, Minister Chowdhury said that the present state government is always sensitive to the issues related to the interests of the employees. The government is looking at how to reduce the difference between the dearness allowance given by the central government and the dearness allowance of the state employees.
Moreover, in the press conference, Minister Chowdhury said that the state government has a comprehensive plan for the overall development of TSR forces, the pride of the state. The ration money of TSR jawans will be increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000. Clothing allowance for jawans of all ranks will be increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000. Rs 5 lakhs will be provided for setting up a gymnasium in each TSR battalion. Medical Officers willing to serve in the TSR Battalion will be increased to Rs 60,000 per month. He also said that arrangements will be made for the promotion of 240 TSR jawans on an ad hoc basis. Rs 5 crore will be allocated for repair and maintenance of TSR posts and barracks.
