STATE: In a significant move towards urban development and environmental conservation, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha laid the foundation stone for the renovation and beautification of three reservoirs under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme at the Shibbari premises on Central Road in Agartala today. The initiative aims to enhance the aesthetic and functional value of these water bodies. The reservoirs included in this project are the Central Road Pond, Ujayan Abhoynagar Bazar Reservoir, and Ujaan Abhoynagar Veterinary Hospital Reservoir. The project will allocate a budget of 2.78 crore rupees for the Central Road Pond, 3.01 crore rupees for the Ujan Abhoynagar Bazar Reservoir, and 2.47 crore rupees for the Ujan Abhoynagar Veterinary Hospital Reservoir.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Saha emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining these water bodies. Citizens should also be aware of the maintenance of water bodies and the beautification done by government initiatives. He urged the public to support the government’s efforts in keeping Agartala clean and green. Highlighting the state’s progress, the Chief Minister praised the current administration’s transparent approach and commitment to development. “The state has achieved incredible success in every field, including health, education, communication, and sports,” he said. He also mentioned the successful implementation of critical health services, such as kidney transplants, made possible through an agreement with Srija Hospital and Research Center. The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s stance on prioritizing development over political differences. “We will not tolerate any kind of politics or differences in the implementation of development programmes,” he asserted, reinforcing the state’s commitment to continuous progress and transparency.
The event saw participation from key officials, including Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Monika Das Dutta, who highlighted ongoing development activities across the state. AMC Commissioner Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav provided a detailed overview of the financial allocations for the renovation and beautification projects. The AMC Mayor in Council, Hiralal Debnath, and Corporator Ratna Datta also spoke on the occasion.
