The first-ever successful lantern festival called the “Aguli Lantern Festival” was held in Agartala on October 30, 2022, at Pragati School Ground. It was organized by Agartala Buzz and Vivah Stories.
For the residents of Agartala, this festival has generated excitement and opened up new opportunities. Festivalgoers of all ages enjoyed themselves together and contributed to the festival’s fantastic atmosphere.
Chirantanu Debnath, Operation Head of Agartala Buzz and Co-Founder at Vivah stories said, ” The show started a bit late from its scheduled time but the people gathered when it was time to light up the lanterns. And the crowd was amazing, we had less preparation to manage so much crowd but everyone was there enjoying and we did not worry. The band performance and crowd singing with them were cherries on top. Overall we are very thankful to each and every one and we will be back next year, so be with us”.
Although 500 spectators were anticipated at the festival, but instead about 1,500 people gathered and ignited lanterns throughout that time. In addition, the festival organizers distributed lanterns to attendees who registered for the event, while on the other hand, attendees also brought lanterns from home.
It should be noted that after the festival day was over, the Aguli Lantern Festival organizers cleaned up the entire ground the following morning, collecting all the used lanterns to prevent environmental damage.
Aguli Lantern Festival has been sponsored by Ximi Vogue, Swarnakamal Jewellers, Roasted Been Cafe, Gopal Mistanna Bhandar, Joy Bricks Industries, Oishii, NWBPureLyf and supported by K9 NGO & Krishnanagar Club.
