The State Government is working continuously to meet the basic amenities of the public including health, education, drinking water, and housing. Different municipal organizations including Agartala Municipal Corporation and Nagar Panchayats are also implementing different works for the improvement of the quality of living of urban residents, enunciated Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha after laying the foundation stone of projects under AMRUT 2.0 scheme for providing tap water connections at the premises of Apanjan Club, Bhattapukur on Monday.
These projects include 47 Deep Tube Wells, 31 Iron Removal Plants, a 258 km extension of the pipeline for drinking water, and drinking water tap connections to 16 thousand 224 households.
The Chief Minister said in the program said, clean drinking water will be provided to 26 wards of municipal areas. Clean drinking water is being delivered to the remaining wards through Drinking Water & Sanitation department.
DWS department has provided drinking water connections to about 64% of AMC areas. The Chief Minister hoped that the percentage will rise to 72% once AMRUT 2.0 implementation is over.
The Chief Minister also said water is an important source of living for us all. That is why everyone must be aware not to waste water.
Different municipal organizations including Agartala Municipal Corporation and Nagar Panchayats are successfully working to provide basic amenities to the citizens.
CM Saha also stated Tripura was awarded the best-performing state among Northeast states for the successful implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in the financial year 2022-23. The President of India Tripura is the cleanest state among small states according to Swachh Survekshan Survey 2023. Agartala Municipal Corporation has been awarded Special Mentions in 3 lakh to 10 lakh categories under Indian Swachhata League.
Additionally, Chief Minister conveyed, To meet the growing demands of urbanization, the state government has taken the initiative to start a new scheme, Chief Minister Satellite Town Development Scheme. In the next 5 years, Satellite towns will be built in Agartala, Udaipur, and Dharmanagar at the cost of 500 crore rupees under this scheme. 10 crore rupees have been allotted in the present year’s budget for primary works of the scheme.
The Chief Minister said, 50 crore rupees have been allotted in this year’s budget to set up Sewage Treatment Plants in Agartala as well as in different cities of the state. Plans have been taken up to set up industrial facilities in Kailasahar at the cost of 10 crore rupees to increase industrial trade as well as to attract tourists. Apart from that, Solar High Mast Lighting Systems will be installed in 19 different cities of the state at the cost of 8 crore 45 lakh rupees.
