STATE : A colorful electric vehicle rally was organized in Agartala today to celebrate World Environment Day. This rally is organized to convey the message of keeping the environment free from pollution. The rally was held under the joint initiative of the Department of Transport and TSECL and with the financial support of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency of the Union Ministry of Power.

Many electric vehicles from ONGC, Tata, Mahindra & Mahindra, and other companies participated in the rally. On this occasion, a function was organized on the premises of the old transport building in Agartala. On the occasion, Transport Department Commissioner Uttam Mondal said that World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 every year for environmental protection. The role of electric vehicles in protecting the balance of the environment is immense. It also protects from noise pollution.

On the occasion, TSECL Additional General Manager Kanak Lal Das said that a proposal has been sent to the central government to set up electric vehicle charging stations at 45 places in Tripura. Traffic Police Superintendent Manik Das among others spoke on the occasion. Swapan Debbarma, General Manager of TSECL, delivered the welcome speech, and Joint Transport Commissioner Richard J Lalnankima was present.

After the inauguration ceremony, the guests started the electric vehicle rally by waving the green flag from the old transport building premises. This rally ended at the old transport building premises after going around the various roads of the city.
