The Election Commission of India has announced the Bye-election dates for the vacant seats in Tripura.

Bye-election of two Tripura Assembly constituencies- Dhanpur and Boxanagar in Sepahijala district will be held on September 5.

The Dhanpur seat fell vacant after the resignation of Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik and the other on the recent death of MLA from Boxanagar Samsul Haque.

The notification for the bye-poll will be issued on August 10, and the last date for filing nomination is August 17. The scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on August 18, and the last date for withdrawal is August 21. The counting is scheduled to take place on September 8.

The elections are scheduled on the same day for seven assembly constituencies of six states i.e., Jharkhand, Kerala, Tripura, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
