Under the initiative of Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) an alumni meet of the former trainees was held at Bengaluru on June 22. Trained under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY) the alumni met at Fortune Park JP Celestial Hotel. The youths from Tripura who are working in Bengaluru now took part in the alumni meet. Under DDUGKY unemployed youths ageing between 18-35 years are trained for skill development in different trades. In the state so far 13,409 youths have been trained and out of them 8,294 youths have found employment. TRLM is acting as the nodal agency for implementation of DDUGKY in the state.
The alumni meet in Bengaluru was inaugurated by the assistant commissioner of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, Ayush Punia and CEO of TRLM Dr. Brahmit Kaur. The programme was also attended by the director of National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat (AIRDPR) Sudhakar Reddy and regional manager of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) Sheikh Mahmood. This programme was organized with the objective of encouraging the youths of Tripura working outside the state. Apart from more than 250 youths of the state working outside, the representatives of Tata Zudio, Ecom Expres, Cream stone Ice cream, Tata Trent, Amazon, Motherson Sumi, V-Mart Retail etc. companies were present in the meet.
Addressing the alumni meet the TRLM CEO said, focusing on the need for giving right direction to the dreams of the youth the government is taking necessary steps. And TRLM is working as a platform under DDUGKY to facilitate training and employment of unemployed youths. He spoke about the youths who have already found employment in Bengaluru as well.
