The voyage of Agartala Government Nursing College began on Tuesday. At the G+8 building of the IGM Hospital Complex, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha officially inaugurated the Government Nursing College.

While inaugurating the college Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha conveyed, With the thought – Health is Wealth, the State Government has taken efforts to expand health services and develop health infrastructure in the state. A health hub has been planned to bring all departments, colleges, and institutions related to health services, including nursing institutions in the state under the Directorate of Medical Education.

Chief Minister also said that Nursing Training Institute in AGMC and GBP Hospitals have already been upgraded to Nursing College. From the current academic year, a B.Sc Nursing course is being started in this college with 50 students.

As a result, the students will benefit as well as the parents will also get relief from the thought of sending their children out of the state for education. The Chief Minister said that 100 sub-health centers will be constructed in the state to expand health services.

For this, 30 crore rupees have been allocated in the budget of the current financial year. ANM Training Institute at Udaipur in Gomati District has been upgraded to GNM Institute with a capacity of 40 seats from the academic year 2023-24, CM said.

However, the Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr. Debashis Basu, said that 175 nurses will be recruited soon. Besides, 100 others will be appointed as contract workers.

He expressed the hope that Agartala Government Nursing College will be established as one of the best nursing colleges in India. The director of the Directorate of Medical Education, Professor Dr. Harprasad Sharma, and the Director of the Directorate of Health Services, Dr. Supriya Mallik, also spoke on the occasion.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister unveiled the brochure of Agartala Government Nursing College and inaugurated the website of the college. A documentary on the infrastructure of Agartala Government Nursing College was screened on the occasion.

In addition, the Chief Minister expressed his belief that the Agartala Government Nursing College would become a “State of Excellence” via the combined efforts of all associates connected to the college, including the faculty, and that the nursing students would benefit.
