STATE : Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, launched the Ayushman Bharat School Health Mission, emphasizing the importance of children as the future of the country. During the inauguration at Rabindra Bhawan in Agartala, in collaboration with the Department of Education and the National Health Mission, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha highlighted the government’s commitment to securing children’s futures through various initiatives.
The Ayushman Bharat School Health Mission aims to ensure that children achieve optimal physical and mental well-being. The mission is built on six main pillars: the National Child Health Scheme (RBSK), the Menstrual Hygiene Programme, the Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation Programme, National Deworming Day, the National Tobacco Control Programme, and the Ayushman Bharat School Health and Wellness Programme. Initially, this pilot project will be implemented in 125 Vidyajyoti schools across Tripura, benefiting approximately 90,000 students directly. If successful, the program will be extended to other government and government-aided schools in the state.
During the announcement, the Chief Minister noted that students spend a significant amount of their time in schools, making it vital to promote a healthy environment and protect students’ health. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration among students, teachers, and parents in fostering physical and mental health. A healthy body and mind, along with a clean environment, create the ideal conditions for learning and concentration. The Chief Minister encouraged students to pursue not just education, but also personal physical, mental, and spiritual development, which is the primary goal of the Ayushman Bharat School Health Mission. He wished for the mission’s overall success.
