CM Announces ₹264 Crore Allocation for School Infrastructure Enhancement

Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, on Tuesday, emphasized that the state’s education department is prioritizing the delivery of quality education, with a special focus on digital learning as guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to improve school infrastructure. He acknowledged the significance of the Prime Minister’s ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ initiative, which aims to ease exam-related stress and encourage students to view exams as challenges rather than sources of pressure. Dr. Saha also noted that parents consistently strive to see their children succeed academically.

Speaking at a felicitation ceremony held at Town Hall for students who excelled in the Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations, Dr. Saha — who also has the Education portfolio — expressed hope for even better academic results in the future. He encouraged healthy and fair competition among students in a positive environment.

The Chief Minister also underlined that exam scores do not solely determine success in life, stressing that perseverance and hard work are vital. Quoting Prime Minister Modi, he said that talented youth from non-political backgrounds should be encouraged to participate in politics to help improve the political climate of the country. He urged students to use their knowledge and abilities for the betterment of society and the nation. Dr. Saha reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to creating platforms that nurture the potential of Tripura’s students.

He praised the introduction of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, crediting Prime Minister Modi’s leadership in shaping an education system rooted in Indian values and traditions, which he believes will greatly benefit students.

Dr. Saha also shared several initiatives undertaken by the state government:

Conversion of multiple schools to English medium.

Under the Super 30 scheme, the state secured 1 IIT seat, 3 NIT seats, and 3 MBBS admissions for the 2024–25 financial year.

Introduction of the Chief Minister’s Merit Award.

Implementation of uniform question papers across schools.

Investment of Rs. 153 crore for constructing new buildings in 44 schools, with plans to develop infrastructure in around 30 more schools using an additional Rs. 264 crore.

He added that in the current academic year, 345 schools achieved a 100% pass rate in the secondary examinations with an overall success rate of 86.53%. 39 schools recorded a perfect pass rate in the higher secondary examinations, which had an overall pass percentage of 79.29%.

The ceremony was graced by key BJP leaders and local dignitaries, including Bharatiya Janata Party Sadar Urban District President Asim Bhattacharya, Baradowali Mandal President Shyamal Kumar Deb, and Municipal Corporation Corporators Abhijit Mallick, Alok Roy, Ratna Dutta, and Janhvi Das Chowdhury.
