Central Veterinary University will be established in the state shortly. A meeting with the Union Minister and members of the Veterinary Council of India will be held in early May to lay the foundation stone for the University.    
 
Animal Resource Development Minister Sudhangshu Das said this while addressing the 23rd World Veterinary Day celebration organized by Tripura Veterinary Council here in Agartala on Saturday. 
 
Speaking at the occasion, the ARD Minister said that veterinarians treat animals with passion. Hence, their work is somewhat different from the general medical profession. He also praised their commendable job. Minister also said that Agriculture and Animal husbandry plays a vital role in India’s GDP.
 
By developing the Animal husbandry sector in the state, it is possible to reduce the unemployment rate of the state, on the other and also eliminate the shortage of milk, eggs, and meat in the state.
