STATE: The Indian Railways has made significant strides in a recent announcement, the Northeast Frontier Railway has introduced a new experience for the people of Agartala by extending the resumption of scheduled services of Agartala-Kolkata Garib Rath Express (Train No. 12502) and the Kolkata-Agartala Garib Rath Express (Train No. 12501).
Starting July 3, 2024, Indian Railways will introduce revised schedules for trains operating between Agartala and Kolkata. Train No. 12502 will depart from Agartala every Wednesday, heading towards Kolkata, while Train No. 12501 will travel in the opposite direction starting from Kolkata every Sunday, July 7, 2024 onwards.
The train schedule for the 12502 AGTL-KOAA and 12518 GHY-KOL trains covers several key stations and their arrival (ARR) and departure (DEP) times. The AGTL-KOAA train departs from Agartala at 07:35 and reaches Dharmanager at 10:08, New Karimganj at 11:19, and continues through stations like Guwahati before arriving in Kolkata at 21:40. On the other hand, the GHY-KOL train starts from Guwahati at 16:05, stops at stations including New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Azimganj Jn., and Bandel Jn., and reaches Kolkata at 14:30. Each station is punctuated with specific departure and arrival times, ensuring a detailed timetable for travellers along these routes.
The Garib Rath Train is an air-conditioned, no-frills train service introduced by the Indian Railways in 2005. Its main purpose is to offer low-cost travel for people who cannot afford ordinary long-distance trains. Despite being designed for budget-conscious travellers, Garib Rath Express trains provide excellent amenities and high speeds. These trains primarily operate on long-distance routes, connecting major cities across different states in India.
