STATE : Former BCCI President & Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly officially became the Brand Ambassador of Tripura Tourism on Monday.
As per his scheduled time, Sourav Ganguly arrived at the venue and joined the Exchange of Agreement ceremony and Press meeting at the premises of Ujjayanta Palace.
Addressing a press conference, “I am really honoured to be the brand ambassador of Tripura. I agreed to the offer when Sushanta Chowdhury first approached me in June. The northeastern state has a lot to offer to the tourists.”
Expressing the feeling of coming here, Ganguly said that he first came to Tripura to play in 1988. After 35 years, becoming the brand ambassador of tourism in this state is a big deal. Sourav Ganguly also said he will do his best to promote the tourism of Tripura before the country and the world.
He said that if his help is sought for the development of cricket in Tripura, besides promoting the tourism sector, he will try his best to do so. Former India captain said cricket is an emotion in India. The small hill state of Tripura has made great strides in cricket as well.
However, Ganguly said that he follows Tripura’s cricket players and is impressed with Manisankar Murasingh.
He expressed hope that in the future, large-scale cricket events will be organized in Tripura. He said, “If Guwahati, the neighboring state, can organize an international match, why can’t Tripura?”
Therefore, he emphasized completing the construction of the cricket stadium. He also said that he would be happy if he could use his cricket experience in Tripura cricket.
