NORTHEAST/STATE: The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, held a meeting in Delhi to review the National Highways of the North Eastern States, including Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, and Nagaland. The Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Tripura, namely Pema Khandu, N Biren Singh, and Dr. Manik Saha, were present at the meeting.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha shared on social media that he had reviewed 16 ongoing National Highway projects covering 324 km with Union Ministers Shri Nitin Gadkari, Shri Ajay Tamta, Shri Harsh Malhotra, and senior officials in Delhi. He mentioned that coordinated efforts were being made to fast-track highway development for sustainable and cost-efficient growth, enhancing connectivity, boosting local economies, and integrating the North-east into India’s growth framework.

Additionally, Chief Minister Saha informed that projects worth Rs. 2800 crore are set to be sanctioned. The projects include the Agartala Eastern Bypass four-lane 11 KM, the Widening of Amtali to Tripura Sundari Matabari Temple 50 KM four-lane, Four-laning of Ranibaazar to IBST Chandrapur 10 KM, and additional sanctions of Central Road Fund. Furthermore, he mentioned the proposal for a new National Highway from Kamalpur to Ambassa-Gandacherra-Amarpur to Sabroom for bettering international trade and tourism, as well as the development of a Logistics Park on Eastern Bypass near Agartala over 100 acres of land. Funds have also been sanctioned for the restoration of National Highways due to flood damages.

Chief Minister Saha also discussed the sanctioning of projects, including one Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a Ropeway from Maharani to Chabimura, during the review meeting with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, held in New Delhi.
