STATE : Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the renovation and restoration project of Ujjayanta Palace Garden in Agartala on Monday. The project, funded by the Asian Development Bank and supervised by Agartala Smart City Limited, is aimed at enhancing the beauty of Ujjayanta Palace and attracting tourists.

During the inauguration, the Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to developing the tourism industry. He highlighted the unique image and tradition of Ujjayanta Palace and the swift completion of the restoration and renovation work. The project included various improvements such as enhancing the open space of Ujjayanta Palace, renewing water fountains, renovating the drainage system, improving Krishnasagar and Radhasagar, establishing a food court, creating a selfie point, and providing a lakeside walk for tourists.

Dr. Saha also expressed the government’s desire for every person in the state to live in a healthy, beautiful, and clean environment. He emphasized the government’s efforts to implement public welfare projects and promote tourism to foreign tourists. The Chief Minister noted a positive change in people’s perception of Tripura tourism and observed an increase in foreign tourist visits. He expressed hope that the project’s implementation will further boost the number of foreign tourists.

The total cost of the project, implemented with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank and supervised by Agartala Smart City Limited, amounted to Rs 35 crore 58 lakh. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation, and the event was attended by Tourism Department Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, and others.
