STATE :Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury inaugurated the newly created tourism infrastructure at Rajghat of Neermahal on Saturday. During the inauguration, the minister stated that the tourism industry would become an alternative economy in the future for the state. The state government and the tourism department are consistently working to promote Neermahal as a global tourism center.

The Government of India is also providing various forms of assistance to make this tourist center more attractive to visitors. A proposed project of Rs 75 crore to build state-of-the-art infrastructure around Neermahal is awaiting approval from the central government, the Minister said.

The minister also mentioned that under the Swadesh Darshan scheme of the Government of India, and the supervision of the Department of Tourism, Government of Tripura, various infrastructures have been developed to enhance services at the Neermahal Tourist Centre. As part of the Swadesh Darshan Project, a tourist facilitation center, souvenir shop, welcome gate, watch tower, ticket counter, special seating area for tourists, and parking space have been constructed at Rajghat, at a cost of Rs 4 crore 2 lakh 57 thousand.

While speaking, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury emphasized that when a tourist center is developed, the first beneficiaries are the local people, as it provides them with opportunities for financial improvement. He stated that the state government’s investment in infrastructure will lead to increased prosperity for the state. However, he also stressed that it is the responsibility of the local community to safeguard this resource, and urged them to come forward to protect Neermahal. (Press Release)
