STATE: The public representatives of the three-tier Panchayati Raj system have worked with sincerity and transparency for the public interest. Because panchayat is the main base for development. Various development schemes of the central and state government are implemented through panchayats only. The benefits of such schemes are percolated to the masses through panchayat, stated the Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, at Agartala Town Hall at the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected members, Sabhadhipati and Saha-Sabhadhipati of West Tripura Zilla Parishad. Balai Goswami as the Sabhadhipati and Biswajit Shil as Saha Sabhadhipati took oat. The oath-taking of Sabhadhipati and Saha Sabhadhipati was administered by the secretary of the rural development department, Dr. Sandeep Rathod. Before that, other members took oaths administered by the director of the panchayat department, Prasun De.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that by electing them as members of the three-tier Panchayat System, the people have been given a chance to work for public welfare. The government is working with transparency in every sector. So, the Chief Minister emphasized the maintenance of transparency at the panchayat level also. He said, keeping the concept of ‘vocal for local’ mooted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, local resources should be utilized for the development of villages.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said the provision of honorarium for the Sabhadhipati, Saha Sabhadhipati, as well as members of the Standing Committee, is there keeping in view the matter of transparency. They get an allowance for attending meetings also. A similar provision is there for the Panchayat Samiti and Gram Panchayat members also.
At the program, the Chief Minister mentioned the ‘Aamar Sarkar’ portal launched with the objective of strengthening the Panchayati Raj System. He also referred to different awards and honors achieved by the state in the Panchayati Raj sector at the national level during the period from 2018 to 2023. He said these awards reflect the success of the government.
