Three-tier panchayat polling will be held in five blocks of West Tripura district on August 8. The blocks are Dukli, Old Agartala, Jiraniya, Mohanpur, and Bamutia. Voting will be held from 7 am to 4 pm. In a press conference in the auditorium of the District Magistrate’s office on Friday District Election Officer of West Tripura District and District Magistrate of West Tripura District, Vishal Kumar, told this news.
He said, there are 2 lakh 18 thousand 362 voters in these five blocks. Among them, there are 1 lakh 10 thousand 73 male voters and 1 lakh 8 thousand 285 female voters. There are four other voters. He said that on that day, voting will be held in 1,013 constituencies of 556 centers of 91 gram panchayats in five blocks of this district. Polling will be held in 65 constituencies of 65 centers of Panchayat Samiti. Polling will be held in 17 constituencies of 17 centers of West Tripura Zilla Parishad. Votes will be taken on ballot papers.
Nomination papers will be accepted till July 18 (Thursday) at the office of the District Election Officer for Zilla Parishad and the office of the concerned Returning Officer (BDO) for Gram Panchayat and Panchayat Samiti. The nomination papers will undergo scrutiny on July 19 (Friday). The last date to withdraw nomination papers is July 22 (Monday).
In a press conference, the district Magistrate said there are 45 polling stations in this district. He said the polling station will have drinking water, electricity, seating, and sheds for the voters. The mobile number of the concerned Returning Officer (BDO) will be made public so that the voters can lodge complaints. Besides, a control room will be opened in the office of the West Tripura District Magistrate.
Counting of votes will start from 8 am on August 12 (Monday). The District Magistrate sought the cooperation of all political parties, voters, and the public to conduct the upcoming Tristar Panchayat elections fairly and peacefully.
In a press conference, Acting Superintendent of Police of West Tripura district Vijay Debbarma said that all measures have been taken to conduct the election freely and peacefully. West Tripura District Additional District Magistrate Sajal Biswas, District Panchayat Officer Nilotpal Debbarma, Deputy Collector Navkumar Jamatia, and others were present at the press conference.
