SPORTS: As India won the T20 World Cup after 17 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and President Droupadi Murmu along with other foreign diplomats congratulated the Indian Cricket Team.
On Saturday, President Droupadi Murmu congratulated the Indian cricket team for winning the T20 World Cup and said the country is proud of them. India’s agonizing 11-year wait for a global title was brought to an end as it outwitted South Africa in a see-saw final to lift its second T20 World Cup trophy in Bridgetown on Saturday.
“My heartiest congratulations to Team India for winning the T20 World Cup. With the never-say-die spirit, the team sailed through difficult situations and demonstrated outstanding skills throughout the tournament. It was an extraordinary victory in the final match. Well done, Team India! We are proud of you!,” Murmu said in a post on X.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed India’s talismanic batter Virat Kohli for his knock in the final match of the marquee event and his overall contribution to Indian cricket. The Prime Minister also congratulated skipper Rohit Sharma for his splendid captaincy and appreciated his T20 career. PM Modi lauded all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s efforts in the final over of the match and praised Suryakumar Yadav for his catch that dismissed South Africa’s David Miller. He also spoke highly of Jasprit Bumrah’s contribution to the team in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Japan & US Ambassadors Hiroshi Suzuki, and Eric Garcetti congratulated Team India for winning the T20 World Cup title after defeating South Africa in the final on Saturday. He expressed happiness for the men in blue.
